Privacy Policy

Spot Gym ("the app") is a running and outdoor-gym workout tracker for iPhone and Apple Watch. This policy explains what the app accesses, why, and where it goes. In plain terms: your workout data is yours, it lives in your own iCloud, and it is never sold or used for advertising.
Who we are
Spot Gym is developed by Niklas Andersson. For any privacy question, email niklas@promtech.systems.
What the app accesses and why
Location (while using the app, including in the background during a run). Used to measure the distance and pace of your runs between gyms and to show gyms near you on the map. Background access is used only while a run is active, so tracking keeps working with the phone locked or in your pocket. Your run track is stored with your workout.
Health & Fitness data (Apple Health / HealthKit). During a workout the app reads your heart rate and active energy to show live effort and calculate calories, and writes your completed workout (including heart rate and route) back to the Health app so it appears in Fitness and on your Apple Watch. Health data is used only to provide these features. It is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never shared with third parties.
Camera and Photos. Used only when you choose to "spot" (submit) an outdoor gym — to attach a photo of that gym. The app does not scan or access your photo library otherwise.
Sign in with Apple. Used to create your account and associate your workouts with you across your devices. The app receives an Apple-provided identifier; if you choose to hide your email, Apple's private relay is used and we never see your real address.
Where your data is stored
- Your personal workout data (runs, routes, exercises, heart rate, progress) is stored in your own private iCloud account via Apple's CloudKit. It syncs across your devices. The developer cannot read your private iCloud data.
- Gyms you "spot" (a photo, the gym's location, and a name) are stored in a shared database so other users can find and verify outdoor gyms. Only submit photos you are comfortable sharing publicly. Do not include people or private property you don't have permission to share.
What we do NOT do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not use advertising or third-party analytics/tracking SDKs.
- We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Your choices and rights
- You can revoke Location, Health, Camera, or Photos access at any time in iOS Settings.
- You can delete individual workouts in the app's History screen.
- To delete your account and associated data, or to request a copy of your data, email niklas@promtech.systems and we will action it.
Children
Spot Gym is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above will change. Material changes will be noted in the app.
